Safety First…

Safety and Security are an issue for a lot of parents looking for child day care in Little Rock. We treasure your children. So when you look in to child care programs in Little Rock, know that at Darnall School nothing matters more than the safety, security and health of your child. From first aid training for emergency situations to sanitation and providing a clean and healthy environment for children, we’re here to ensure that your child is happy and healthy. Although bumps and scrapes are sometimes a part of growing up, you can feel confident that your child is being cared for in a security nurturing environment each and every day.

Qualifications:

  • All of our teachers receive a minimum of 25 hours of ongoing early childhood education yearly and many are trained child care professionals.
  • Each and every staff member is CPR certified and trained in first aid.
  • A TB skin test is conducted on every teacher and staff member.
  • We conduct background checks to ensure our teachers and staff are trustworthy and can provide the best care for your child.

Feeding:

  • All perishable items are refrigerated.
  • We welcome breastfeeding mothers and have policies in place to ensure your child is well fed.
  • Food allergies are posted prominently in each room to help prevent allergic reactions.

Wellness:

  • If a child is ill or has been ill, he/she must remain out of the Center for 24 hours unless otherwise specified by management or a Doctor. If the illness is contagious, they must have been seen by a physician and have a signed doctor’s form with the doctors name and clinic on it stating that they are no longer contagious to be allowed back into the Center. They must not have had a fever of 100 degrees + without the use of fever-reducing medications, and they must feel well enough to fully participate in the daily activities.
  • Every child is assessed daily to monitor their health and happiness.
  • We notify you immediately when your child does not feel well to help prevent the spread of illness.

Medications:

  • We have strict policies in place for the use of medication to help assure your child is protected.

Sanitation:

  • We clean our center each and every day with safe non-toxic cleaners.
  • All cleaning supplies are locked safely out of the reach of children.
  • We encourage your child to wash their hands throughout the day.
  • Diapering is set up in an area away from your child’s play areas.
  • We encourage our staff to sanitize toys and surfaces throughout the day to help keep our center clean.

Emergencies:

  • We are serious about having a plan in place for emergencies and have an emergency evacuation plans for all emergency and lock-down situations.
  • Our center includes smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire retardant paint.
  • We regularly conduct drills and tests to asses our emergency readiness.

Security:

  • Our center is secured so only authorized staff and family may enter the facility and 1/2 doors keep your child safe in their room.
  • Secure perimeters allow your child to play outdoors safely.
  • We use safety gates, safety locks, electrical caps and other safety equipment to help ensure your child stays safe while inside.

Authorization:

  • Only pre-approved people with a photo id are allowed to pick up your child.
